We are so grateful to every volunteer who gives up their time to help make a difference - every one has a story to tell and we are delighted to be able share them with you.
Colin is a volunteer in our Lisburn shop on the Saintfield Road in Lisburn.
Colin is 68 and is married with 4 children between the age of 34 and 41. Colin is very passionate about music (especially classical music) and is a fanatical collector of stamps and clocks.
He is an organist at his church playing for the Early Communion Service. A church in Dromara currently has the pleasure of Colin playing for them 2 or 3 Sundays per month. He loves to lead God’s people in praise in this way.
For 28 years Colin was the director of the Leprosy Mission NI who aim to reach out in the name of Jesus to those who suffer from Leprosy and give them His love. During his time at the Leprosy Mission he was a Custodian of a Good Name and preached in many churches and took meetings. Colin also had the opportunity to go on 30 overseas trips to countries including India, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Thailand, Tanzania and Singapore.
Before Colin retired he was a regular customer in the Lisburn shop. He loved the nice atmosphere in the shop which is down to the shop manager. After his retirement Colin applied to be a volunteer and loves having good craic with the many customers in this busy shop on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
Many people driving past our shop in Lisburn while Colin is volunteering often are drawn to turn and come into the car park and have a closer look at his car. Colin drives a 54 year old Rover P4 100 which has been described by one of his children as ‘dad’s armchair on wheels’. Colin has been offered a straight swap—his Rover for a Ford Focus that was just 3 months old! Colin refused this offer and kept his Rover. He also has a 1958 Austin A35 and a motorhome he bought when he retired.
If you would like to check out Colin’s car or meet Colin why not call into our Lisburn shop?
